What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences and improve your browsing experience. Cookies can be session-based, which means they are deleted when you close your browser, or persistent, which means they remain on your device for a set period. They do not typically contain personal information but may store identifiers that help us recognise your browser.

Why we use cookies

Decks Ideatlas uses cookies to enhance site functionality, analyse traffic, and personalise content for our Australian audience. Cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our cruise guides and ship information, and they enable features such as remembering your preferences for cabin comparisons or dining searches.

  • Remember your cookie consent choice.
  • Keep your preferred region and language settings.
  • Understand which cruise guides and ship pages are most useful.
  • Improve the performance and reliability of the site.

Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the website to function properly. They enable core features like page navigation and access to secure areas. Essential cookies do not require consent under most privacy regulations.

  • Maintaining your session while you browse ship guides.
  • Supporting basic security measures.

Performance and Analytics Cookies

These cookies collect information about how visitors use our site, such as which pages are most popular. This helps us improve the user experience. The data is aggregated and anonymous, and we may use third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics.

  • Counting visits to cabin comparison pages.
  • Identifying which dining guides are read most often.
  • Measuring page load times and error rates.

Functional Cookies

Functional cookies allow the website to remember choices you make, such as your preferred language or region, to provide enhanced features. They may be set by us or by third-party providers. If you disable these cookies, some services may not function optimally.

  • Remembering that you are browsing from Australia.
  • Keeping your preferred deck or cabin filters active.
  • Storing your recently viewed ship pages.

Targeting or Advertising Cookies

These cookies may be set through our site by advertising partners. They are used to build a profile of your interests and show relevant ads on other sites. They do not store directly personal information but identify your browser and device. You can opt out of targeted advertising through browser settings or industry opt-out tools.

  • Limiting how often you see the same advertisement.
  • Measuring the effectiveness of promotional campaigns.
  • Showing cruise-related content that may interest you.

Browser Settings

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can usually find these options under "Privacy" or "Security". You can set your browser to block all cookies, accept only first-party cookies, or delete cookies when you close the browser. Instructions vary by browser, so consult your browser's help section for details.

  • Block all cookies from any website.

  • Delete existing cookies when you close the browser.
  • Set exceptions for specific sites such as Decks Ideatlas.

Opting Out of Specific Cookies

For analytics and advertising cookies, you can use industry opt-out tools such as the Network Advertising Initiative or the Digital Advertising Alliance. These tools allow you to opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies. Opting out does not mean you will no longer see ads, but they will be less relevant to your interests.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation, or our practices. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. The effective date at the top of this page indicates the last revision, which is 4 September 2026.
